Advantage Chevrolet of Hodgkins and Countryside recently hosted a Pretty in Pink event to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
More than 300 people attended the Pretty in Pink event in Hodgkins, raising more than $34,000 for breast cancer research, education and services to patients.
“Advantage Chevrolet’s owner Desmond Roberts considers the fight against cancer to be a very personal one; he lost his father to cancer at a young age,” said Jason Roberts, manager of sales at Advantage Chevrolet.
Cathie Kukuc, breast cancer survivor and nurse navigator with Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, provided cancer screening information. The event included several different activities, highlighting a fashion show with breast cancer survivors who had received complimentary makeovers from stylists, makeup artists and modeling consultants.
According to the Illinois State Cancer Registry, an estimated 9,850 women in Illinois will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year and about 1,880 will die from the disease.
